Why does SMART Recovery charge for facilitator training?

Your registration fee helps sustain and expand SMART Recovery’s mission.

It directly supports the work that makes high-quality, accessible facilitator training possible:

• People-Powered Support: Your fee helps pay the dedicated staff who design and deliver trainings, answer questions, update materials, and provide ongoing support to facilitators before and after training.

• Learning Platform & Technology: It supports the learning management system that hosts your training and allows us to continuously improve the learning experience.

• Mission-Driven Affordability: We intentionally keep training costs as low as possible so we can grow SMART Recovery and bring evidence-based mutual support to more communities.

We never want cost to be the reason someone can’t become a facilitator.
SMART Recovery regularly runs fund drives so that we can offer training scholarships, ensuring that people who need support can access facilitator training regardless of their financial situation. No one is ever turned away from meeting facilitator training because they can’t afford it.
